Do You Do Anything For The Community?
The HBA gives to communities, schools and causes. We helped recreate a community meetinghouse in White Pond, SC after it had fallen into disrepair. We have provided money, supplies and labor for handicapped individuals who needed ramps into their homes.
The HBA gives an annual scholarship for a student at the Aiken Technical College. Greater amounts of money are donated annually to Public Education Partners, an Educational Foundation. These monies have been used to support all the public schools in Aiken County. The HBA provides builders to assist vocational teachers who provide building classes for high school students who are considering the building industry as their own profession.
When a community or individual need has surfaced, the Board of Directors has looked at each case individually to determine if we are able to step in and provide a resolution to a specific problem.
A continuing project will be the commitment of $25,000 to be used as seed money for the 2008 Builders’ Blitz. The goal is for all the membership to become involved again through their labor, products and services in building a home that will be given to the Habitat for Humanity for an Aiken County family. The 2007 project was an outstanding success as the home was built in 4 days! [back to top]
Do You Have Any Links To Groups Outside Of Aiken County?
Every member of the HBA of Aiken County is automatically a member of the HBA of South Carolina (HBA of SC) and a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB.) Both connections are invaluable as resources for local issues and as lobbyist for Political Action Committees PACs.) [back to top]
